David Norris believes Leeds could look to their former coach Corberan if they want to replace Daniel Farke in the coming months.

Former Leeds United player David Norris has warned Daniel Farke that he can't afford to go on a long winless win if he wants to stay in charge at Elland Road.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Norris has also tipped West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan as a potential replacement for Farke if the latter is sacked in the coming months.

Leeds have made a fairly decent start to the campaign, even though they have endured some low moments.

Their 3-3 draw against Portsmouth on the opening day wasn't ideal, considering they were firm favourites to win that clash and probably should have won all three points.

Having scored three goals at Elland Road that day, they should have claimed victory, but they lost a couple of potentially precious points.

They also suffered a 1-0 home loss against Burnley - and will be hoping to escape defeat against a similarly threatening opponent in Sheffield United this evening.

All in all though, the Whites won't be too upset with their start to the season, considering they currently sit in the play-off mix at this point.

They would have been in an even better position if it wasn't for Sunderland's freak equaliser before the international break, but Leeds have created a solid foundation to build on in the coming weeks and months.

West Brom have also made a very decent start to the season, and like Leeds, they are currently sitting in the promotion mix.

Corberan has done an exceptional job at The Hawthorns, although that was to be expected considering he managed to squeeze the best out of his former side Huddersfield Town.

David Norris issues warning to West Brom regarding Leeds United

Not only does Norris believe Leeds could end up dismissing Farke this side of Christmas if results aren't going the Whites' way, but he also thinks the Baggies should be concerned about Corberan's release clause and the possibility of him moving to Elland Road.

He said: "The problem for Daniel Farke is that he can’t go five or six games without a win, that pressure is really on.

"Carlos Corberan at West Brom was obviously someone they were linked with not too long ago, and he’s done really well since leaving as Leeds’ number two. West Brom should be worried about his release clause.

"Any sort of bad run and I do think Leeds could push the button, even if it’s this side of Christmas."

Daniel Farke deserves time at Leeds United after an unlucky end to the 2023/24 campaign

Farke did well during the 2023/24 season and guided the Whites to a 90-point finish.

During many seasons, that is usually enough to secure a top-two place, and it could be argued that the West Yorkshire side didn't deserve to be in the play-offs because of that.

They also secured an emphatic play-off semi-final victory - and came into their Wembley game against Southampton with plenty of confidence.

The Whites weren't "unlucky" to lose their game against the Saints, because the better side won on the day.

However, they were unlucky not to secure automatic promotion in the end.
