According to Foot Mercato, West Bromwich Albion are in advanced talks to sign free agent Yann M’Vila (33) on a short-term deal.

M’Vila has been without a club since leaving Olympiacos at the end of the 2022/23 season. The Frenchman has been keen to find a new club, multiplying his media appearances in order to raise his visibility. He notably cited a potential return to Sunderland, where he has previously spent one season, whilst a return to Ligue 1 was also an option.

I don’t need the money, I just want to play, but not in Ligue 2, or in lower divisions, apart from Sunderland, in order to help them get back to the Premier League. I had an extraordinary year there,” he told Le Progrès.

L’Équipe reported late in January that relegation-threatened FC Metz were interested in signing M’Vila, and whilst they could theoretically still do so, the Frenchman now looks set for a return to the UK. According to Foot Mercato, West Brom are in advanced talks to sign M’Vila, and it is expected that an agreement will be reached soon. He is expected to sign a short-term deal with the Championship side until the end of the season.
