West Bromwich Albion are currently on the lookout for a new striker after Daryl Dike suffered a thigh injury earlier this month.

With the United States international set to be out of action for at least two months, Albion are hoping to draft in an individual who will be able to provide some much-needed competition for Karlan Grant.

One of the players who has recently been linked with a potential move to The Hawthorns is Manchester City striker Liam Delap.

Here, we have decided to take a look at what we know so far about West Brom’s pursuit of Delap and assess whether a transfer is likely to happen between now and the end of the summer window…

What do we know so far?

A Patreon report from journalist Alan Nixon yesterday suggested that West Brom had made an approach to sign Delap on loan from City.

As per The Independent, the reigning Premier League champions have opted to sanction a temporary departure for the forward this summer.

Making reference to Delap earlier today, West Brom manager Steve Bruce has admitted that the club are indeed interested in the forward.

As cited by Birmingham Live journalist Joe Chapman on Twitter, Bruce has labelled the forward as an outstanding talent.

Is a transfer likely to happen?

With City seemingly willing to loan out Delap, a move to The Hawthorns could potentially be on the cards.

However, Albion could potentially face competition from elsewhere for the 19-year-old’s signature.

According to The Telegraph journalist John Percy, Stoke City are also interested in signing Delap on a temporary deal.

In order to win the race for Delap, West Brom may need to offer City some assurances regarding game-time as the Premier League outfit will be hoping to see the forward make considerable strides in terms of his development this season.

Having scored 32 goals in 32 appearances for City’s Under-23 side in the Premier League 2 Division 1, Delap will be determined to set the Championship alight with his attacking displays if he does go on to join West Brom or Stoke.
