Ipswich continued their fine start to the League One season at the weekend by bagging another three points against Accrington Stanley.
The third tier outfit have been unstoppable so far this campaign, with the club playing seven games so far and winning five of those fixtures. With two draws to boot, it means the Tractor Boys are currently unbeaten and are sitting happily at the very top of the division.
It took a total of 76 minutes for the deadlock to be broken on Saturday though, with Conor Chaplin eventually firing his team into the lead. With the club then cruising, Wes Burns added a second to wrap up the win and bag another three points for Kieran McKenna’s team.

After bagging the second in that fixture and helping his team to keep their unbeaten run going, goalscorer Wes Burns took to his Instagram to post a message after the victory.
In that post, he simply stated three words – ‘we keep going.’ The side are, of course, in an excellent vein of form and it seems the winger is delighted that his side are continuing to do the business week-in and week-out at Portman Road.
The 27-year-old hasn’t played in all seven of his side’s fixtures but he has been given the nod in five of them – and with two goals and two assists in those outings, he has managed an average of 0.86 goals or assists per 90 so far this campaign.
It means the player is in outstanding form – and with so many playing so well, it seems as though the side will indeed keep going this season.
The Verdict
Wes Burns has been brilliant when he has been turned to so far this season and his record proves it.
The thing is for Ipswich, Burns isn’t even their best player or their most frequently turned to option. In spite of that, he has produced the goods alongside the likes of Conor Chaplin, Marcus Harness and Janoi Donacien. All three of those have top scored and been the top assist makers but Burns is the latest to produce the goods.
It seems as though Kieran McKenna has put together an excellent squad and has instilled an excellent team spirit at Portman Road too since the former Man United man arrived. His appointment led to a massive upturn in fortune in the last campaign and that has now carried over to this season too.
The manager has been superb then and if he can lead the Tractor Boys to a promotion, it would be the peak for the new boss.
