Sky Germany reports that Werder Bremen and Alexander Schwolow are in talks over replacing Michael Zetterer.
The free agent is an option for Bremen as Zetterer is on the verge of joining Eintracht Frankfurt as a replacement for Kevin Trapp, who is to join Paris FC.
Schwolow is currently a free agent after leaving Union Berlin in the summer. However, it is unknown if the 33-year-old will be Bremen’s number one. The reason for this is that Bremen have high hopes for 21-year-old goalkeeper Mio Backhaus, and Zetterer’s departure could open the door for Backhaus to be promoted to first-choice keeper.
Bild reports that Arsenal’s number three, Karl Hein, has been offered to Bremen as an alternative option. The Athletic reports that the Estonian has interest from Levante in Spain.
Bremen have not been active in the transfer market this summer, and with them kicking off their Bundesliga season this weekend, they do not seem close to being the team that Horst Steffen likely hoped for when he replaced Ole Werner earlier in the summer.
