AFC Wimbledon are heading to Wembley after a hard-fought 1ā0 victory over Notts County at a packed Plough Lane on Saturday afternoon sealed a 2ā0 aggregate win in the League Two play-off semi-final.
Josh Neufville was the hero of the day, scoring the only goal of the game with a composed finish in the first half to send the home fans into raptures and the Dons into the play-off final.
In a tense but lively encounter, it was Wimbledon who showed more intent early on, with the home crowd roaring the team forward. The breakthrough came in the 33rd minute when Neufville raced on to a perfectly timed pass and slotted past the keeper with calm assurance.
With the aggregate score now in Wimbledonās favour, the second half became a test of resilience. Notts County pushed for a way back into the tie, but the Dons defended with grit and organisation, with captain Jake Reeves and the backline standing firm under pressure.
As the final whistle blew, the stadium erupted, and the players were met with a wall of noise from the South London faithful. It was a performance full of determination, heart, and belief ā everything this club stands for.
AFC Wimbledon will now prepare for a trip to Wembley, where a shot at promotion to League One awaits against Walsall.
One more game. One more push. Come on you Dons!
