Welsh international Francis-Jones joins Sheffield United
FAWSL Full-Time
The 19-year-old moves to Sheffield United on a dual-registration basis from Barclays Women’s Super League giants Manchester City who she joined from Cardiff City Ladies last summer.
Francis-Jones is yet to make her senior debut for Manchester City but she has been a regular for the club in the WSL Academy League. The teenager spent time with Barclays Women’s Championship club Blackburn Rovers last season but she was only able to make one appearance for the Lancashire side in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup with the player being sidelined with a long term injury. The defender will now be hoping to establish herself in the senior game during her time with Sheffield United.
After signing on with The Blades, Francis-Jones said “I’m so excited, can’t wait to get going now and start pre-season off with the team.
“The change and transition for me from Wales to England was a big shock at first, but I adapted really well and I’m just really excited to kick-off my senior career now at Sheffield United.”
Francis-Jones is Sheffield United head coach Neil Redfearn’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
