Sadio Mane scores his 100th goal in English football with Norwich winner

Sadio Mane came back from injury and off the bench to ensure Liverpool ended the night with all three points against Norwich City.

The goal also ensured that the Reds equalled the club record of 17 straight wins in the league. It also ensured that Mane reached a personal landmark of 100 goals in English football.

The game looked to be heading for a draw following a spirited Norwich defensive display. Naby Keita looked to have spurned Liverpool’s best chance when he missed from six yards away.

The Reds, however, would not be denied as the 27-year-old came off the bench to score the late winner. This is Mane’s 14th goal of the season, four behind Liverpool’s top scorer of the season, Mohamed Salah.

The goal also ensured that Mane broke into the top 30 of the Liverpool all-time goalscorers list. This leaves the Senegalese international just seven goals off Luis Suarez in the list, with only Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah from the current roster ahead of him. (h/t Liverpool history)

The 27-year-old will go down as one of Liverpool’s finest players in the Premier League era. Eyebrows were raised when the Reds paid £34million to secure the winger’s signature in 2016. It is fair to say that the amount looks a bargain now.

Mane also won the 2019 CAF African Player of the Year, edging out Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah. (h/t Liverpool FC)
