In recent seasons, a showdown between Manchester City and Liverpool often came with huge Premier League title ramifications for both.

Those duels have been captivating and breathtaking viewing at times – two sides at the peak of their powers with two of the world’s best on the benches.

It may be a little different this time due to the Reds’ struggles this season but when they click, as they did against Manchester United for example, they are still devastating on their day.

Those have admittedly been fewer and further between of late but Erling Haaland’s injury issues in the build-up will give them cause for confidence and the pressure is on for City in their bid to hunt Arsenal down at the top of the table.

An away win would see Jürgen Klopp’s do the league double over City for just the second time in the last 17 seasons, although the hosts have been beaten just once in their last 13 games against Liverpool in the league at the Etihad.

Given their Jekyll and Hyde form this season and the quality of opponent, we’re taking a home win at 1.62, in addition to both teams scoring in the contest, which is 1.67.

Blockbuster Bundesliga clash

Saturday night’s clash between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena was already a titanic one.

The visitors arrive in Bavaria sitting a point clear at the top of the table, giving this one a greater edge, with BVB out to end Bayern’s decade of dominance in the Bundesliga.

Even more spice has been added to it this week with Bayern’s hiring of former Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel after the shock firing of Julian Nagelsmann.

It almost seems inevitable now that he will begin with a win over his old employers and get Bayern on track to defend their crown, particularly with so many injury issues hanging over Edin Terzić’s side (Gregor Kobel, Julian Brandt, Nico Schlotterbeck, Karim Adeyemi and Youssoufa Moukoko are all fitness doubts to varying degrees).

Dortmund’s record in Munich too is abysmal, where they have just one win from their last 10 league games. In fact, in the last eight Bundesliga games between them of any description, BVB have managed one draw and seven defeats.

History looks set to weigh heavily again. We cannot see beyond Bayern at 1.45.

An intriguing Champions League quarter-final dress rehearsal takes place in Italy on Sunday.

It sees runaway Serie A leaders Napoli welcome defending champions Milan to town, knowing that their trophy will soon be making a similar journey south.

Neither side will be eager to give too much away ahead of their European showdown, making this contest all the more interesting.

Napoli, who won the reverse fixture at San Siro, are aware that the Scudetto is a matter of time, while the Rossoneri are in dire need of points to stay on track in a tight race for a top four finish.

All things considered, we like the look of Milan double chance at 1.91 but a draw is also enticing at 3.5.

In addition, we would have been on Victor Osimhen to find the net given his form – he is averaging a goal every 91 minutes in Serie A this season but injury has ruled him out of this one and places him in big doubt to make their European showdown.
