We’ve got an incredible weekend ahead with huge fixtures across Europe, here’s what to look out for …
Everybody is thinking the same thing about Arsenal but nobody wants to commit. Are they title challengers? This weekend they have an opportunity to set the record straight against Liverpool.
Sitting top of the league and fresh off their North London derby win against Tottenham, Mikel Arteta’s side are flying with Gabriel Jesus transforming their attack, Granit Xhaka revitalised in midfield and William Saliba slotting seamlessly into their back four.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have struggled and look to be enjoying the full “Seventh Season Klopp” experience. The Anfield club are already 11 points behind their Sunday opponents and look a shadow of their intense, heavy metal selves of seasons past.
But don’t discount Liverpool who have won three consecutive Premier League fixtures at Emirates Stadium and remain unbeaten in five of their last six visits to North London. Can they repeat that feat against this new and improved Arsenal side?
Liverpool to win outright sits at 2.62, while Gabriel Jesus scoring (anytime) sits at 2.75 – or 6.50 for first goalscorer.
It’s not every year you get to see Union Berlin and Freiburg occupy first and second place in the Bundesliga, but that only adds extra spice for this weekend’s “Klassiker” between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
Bayern haven’t had it all their own way. Despite scoring 15 goals in their first three fixtures, they since stalled with three draws and a defeat in their next four – with head coach Julian Nagelsmann and their players taking criticism.
Dortmund, however, are as up-and-down as ever. Winning one week, losing the next, they are always all or nothing but have found some attacking momentum under Eden Terzić who is getting the best out of his young attackers.
But the numbers favour the red corner. Bayern have won their last eight matches against Dortmund across all competitions, with the Bundesliga giants scoring at least three goals in their last six matches against BVB.
Bayern are 1.6 to win outright and currently sit at 4.5 to score more than two goals.
And finally, concluding our blockbuster weekend, we’re switching our attention to Serie A as Milan host Juventus at San Siro.
Milan are realising that defending your title might not be so easy, and currently sit fifth after eight games played although are finding their feet again with Rafael Leão and Olivier Giroud doing the business.
Meanwhile, Juventus are a strange one under Massimiliano Allegri. Their history and stature outweighs their current standing as a team, but moments of brilliance is seeing them through games and they are slowly climbing the table after a difficult start.
The numbers don’t look good for the Bianconeri with Milan undefeated in 23 of their last 24 Serie A matches, while Juventus have failed to win their last five away league fixtures.
Milan are 2.00 to win outright with Rafael Leão 3.75 to score anytime.
