After learning of Marcus Rashford’s desires to embark on a new chapter away from Manchester United, one La Liga club have thrown their name into the mix of his potential suitors.

It comes amid reports that the forward ‘dreams’ of plying his trade in Spain’s top division, and Atletico Madrid may well provide him the opportunity to do so.

According to TBR Football, Diego Simeone’s side are keen on taking Rashford on board in 2025, though only on a loan basis – presumably because they’d be unable to match whatever price tag United attach to their homegrown talent, who boasts 138 goals for his boyhood club.

In addition to his unspecified transfer fee, the 27-year-old pockets £325,000 per week at Old Trafford, a fee that few clubs in Europe would be able – or willing – to match. Only the likes of Paris Saint-Germain could do so comfortably while allowing him to continue his career in one of the top-five leagues, but their stance on a potential pursuit remains to be seen.

Alas, a loan move is likely to be the resolution if Rashford departs Old Trafford as early as January, especially given the late notice of his availability.

He won’t be pushed out the door, however. Ruben Amorim was quizzed on the Englishman’s comments in his pre-Tottenham Hotspur press conference this morning and assured that he plans to work with Rashford in hopes of reigniting his most prolific goalscoring form.

“He (Rashford) is right,” Amorim told reporters. “We have here a new challenge, the biggest in football. We are in a difficult situation. I hope all my players are ready.

“This kind of club needs big talent, and he’s a big talent, so he just needs to perform at the highest level, and that is my focus. I just want to help Marcus.”

After being omitted from the boss’ matchday squad for last Sunday’s Manchester derby, the attacker will be hoping to return and make an instant impact in United’s Carabao Cup quarter-final away to Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow evening.
