Manchester United’s goalscoring hero Alejandro Garnacho was quick to address supporters following tonight’s deflating result.

The Red Devils squandered a two-goal lead to ultimately draw 3-3 with Galatasaray at Rams Park; a result they’d have maybe taken at the beginning of the campaign, but having sustained three defeats already, claiming all three points was crucial.

Their fate is now out of their hands and could even be determined before 11pm this evening depending on the outcome of Bayern Munich and Copenhagen’s contest in Germany.

Garnacho netted the opener in the hostile atmosphere in Istanbul as he looked to silence a rowdy crowd, wheeling off to ‘shush’ the home fans before quickly being cautioned by his captain, Bruno Fernandes, for his behaviour.

His well-taken contribution came three days on from the greatest goal of his career and United’s season so far – the scintillating overhead kick that he produced against Everton. It marks two goals in two games for the teenager.

Garnacho’s promise to United fans

Taking to Instagram after the full-time whistle, Garnacho apologised to supporters and vowed that the squad would do everything they could to finish the group stage on as positive a note as possible.

“Sorry United fans. This is the Champions League and we have to be aware of it and assume responsibilities. There is one game left and we will do everything possible.”
