It has recently been reported that Bayern Munich are looking to sign Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah. With the German international’s contract set to expire in the summer of 2025, Der Rekordmeister have already opened talks with Tah’s entourage surrounding a possible move to Bavaria, according to Florian Plettenberg.

However, as reported by Bild, there has yet to be any contact between Bayern and Tah. As well as this, if the record champions were hoping to lure Tah over to the Allianz Arena, then they would have to pay a significant fee for his services.

It is understood that Die Werkself are unwilling to strengthen any league rivals such as Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig without receiving a lucrative fee. Therefore, if Tah were to leave this summer, then the Bundesliga champions would demand over €40 million.

Nevertheless, there is no intention to allow the 28-year-old to depart the BayArena this summer. Speaking to Bild, Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes commented on the situation:

“We want to keep Jona and extend him beyond 2025. We’ll talk about that after the season; now the focus is on achieving the maximum. And Jona thinks the same way too.”

For the Werkself, the aim for this season is to remain unbeaten in all competitions and secure an unprecedented treble. With the DFB-Pokal and Europa League still on the table, it could be a historical season for not just the club but for German football, and if they are to remain unbeaten in the Bundesliga, then they will be the first team in the league’s history to do so.
