Everton manager Brian Sørensen says that his side’s aim is to finish the season as high as possible in the Barclays Women’s Super League table.

With four games left to play, The Blue Girls currently occupy tenth position, however, they are just three points behind eighth-placed Brighton & Hove Albion.

Everton face the Sussex club in their next match on Friday night. When speaking in the pre-match press conference, manager Sørensen said that his side are seeking a strong finish to the campaign.

“It’s no secret that we want to finish as high as we can,” Sørensen said. “We haven’t been happy with the number of points collected this season but performances have consistently been good.

“We need to get three points. When we play teams around us, we try to use that as our energy and fuel to motivate the players.

“We have four games left and I believe that three of them are really winnable. We will do everything that we can on Friday to get three points.”

Everton will take on Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium rather than at The Seagulls’ usual home venue in Crawley. Sørensen believes that playing on a Premier League pitch will really benefit his side but he is unsure how the change of venue will impact opponents Brighton & Hove Albion over the 90 minutes.

He said “I’m very pleased that we are playing at the Amex because of the surface, that will suit both teams a lot and hopefully, there are a lot of spectators.

“We certainly do very well when we play away at big stadiums, we’ve got a good track record and that’s what we are focusing on.

“For Brighton, it’s important that they’re playing in their home stadium. Will it be a different Brighton team [at the Amex]? Time will tell.”

Everton’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Brighton & Hove Albion kicks-off at 7pm on Friday evening.
