Ange Postecoglou spoke to Sky Sports after the match with Kilmarnock today and was enthused not only by the result and manner of the performance but that his Hoops side were clinical in front of goal. There was a mixture of goalscorers this afternoon in the heat of Ayrshire and both central defenders Moritz Jenz and newly fit Carl Starfelt got on the scoresheet.

In a typically relentless Celtic display, there was never really any looking back after Japanese forward Kyogo Furuhashi put the team ahead early doors. From there on in we dominated the ball and cut Kilmarnock open at an awesome rate. Jota managed to grab another screamer – although you wouldn’t have known it by the subdued reaction from Andy Walker, Kris Boyd and Derek McInnes. Clearly upset some people.

Goals from centre-back’s Jenz and Starfelt followed, before Giakoumakis scored the fifth. Both Moritz and Giorgos managed to score phenomenal acrobatic efforts as the Bhoys put on a show for the travelling support. Moritz was ironically replaced by Carl Starfelt in the second period of the match and Carl managed to nab his first goal in a Celtic jersey.

Ange said: “Our discipline and commitment to play our own football was really good and we got the rewards for it. Days like this you can try and get through the game, get the win and leave but that’s not the kind of football team we want to be. Every game gives us an opportunity to try and be as dominating as we can. If it doesn’t work out it’s not because we haven’t intended to do so, we don’t need to make excuses at the end of it, like I said we got our rewards.

“We want to be a team that has multiple goal threats going forward, our centre-halfs are contributing at the moment which is great, but not just the starting eleven but guys coming off the bench. There’s no doubt about it we want to be a team that scores goals.

“There’s different ways of scoring goals in football and your position doesn’t stop you from doing that, if you’re in that area you take your chances. It’s Carl Starfelt’s first goal for the club and I know he’s been trying hard to get it. It’s a memorable one for him.”
