Following the conclusion of the European Championship qualifiers, we are now much closer to knowing how things will stack up next summer.

The pots now stand as follows ahead of the draw on December 2, with just three more places still up for grabs via the play-off route.

Pot One: Germany, Portugal, France, Spain, Belgium, England

Pot Two: Hungary, Turkey, Denmark, Albania, Romania, Austria

Pot Three: Netherlands, Scotland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia

Pot Four: Italy, Serbia, Switzerland, play-off winners A, B, C

For example, tournament favourites France could scarcely have picked a better group than this one.

England were beaten finalists last time out and will look to go one better, which would be all the more achievable if they potentially ended up with a group like this.

For defending champions Italy, their placement in pot four makes things very interesting – particularly in the case of a likely group of death!

Host nation Germany will have plenty of backing but they’ve struggled badly of late, with the draw predicting Ukraine to navigate their play-offs and set up a intriguing group.

Portugal appear resurgent under Roberto Martínez but could be derailed with a tricky group of death like the generator threw up.

Italy appear a popular pot four choice – and Portugal’s neighbours Spain were also paired with the Azzurri.

And Scotland have made it back-to-back Euros with their automatic qualification trumping the Serbian play-off nail-biter last time out and could face them again – as well as their Auld Enemy.
