Dino Toppmöller, Kevin Trapp and Mario Götze react to Eintracht’s 1-1 draw at Union Berlin.
Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “It was the intensive game we expected it to be. We initially had the game well under control in the first half and deserved to go in front. We lost control a little later on and lost the ball too easily. Union increased the pressure in the second half. We conceded an equaliser that we shouldn’t have done and after that – and the red card – the boys showed a great mentality and defended superbly. It’s a totally deserved point.”
Kevin Trapp: “We knew exactly what to expect here. I don’t think many teams will win here because it’s really tough to come away with anything at Union. With that in mind we did well. It got even harder when we went down to ten men. We can be satisfied with the point.”
Mario Götze: “If you look at Union’s previous games this season then you can see why they’ve only conceded five times and why they’re so tough to play against, especially at home. At the end of the day we can be happy to have taken a point. We were much better in the first half than in the second, and had a couple of chances to hurt Union. You take the pressure off when you do that. That’s what we were lacking after the break.”
