Alessia Russo and Georgia Stanway marked their recalls to the starting XI with goals while substitutes Beth England and Jill Scott came off the bench to score in Switzerland as England again showed that they have plenty of strength-in-depth.
When speaking to our media colleagues at ITV after the match in Zürich, England boss Wiegman said that it is very much a squad game.
“It was a good result and we scored all of the goals in the second half,” Wiegman said. “I think we showed again that we have a very fit team – when they got tired, we brought on some substitutes.
“It also showed again that we don’t play with 11 players, we have so many more players in our squad and we can make a change in the second half. Play patient.”
England have ended their preparations for the UEFA Women’s EURO with three wins out of three but Wiegman still wants more from her team.
She said “We always have things to improve. I think we are in a very good place but that will show in the EUROs.
“These are all friendlies and they are very nice to learn from but it really starts next Wednesday. We are in a very good place but we still have to improve a couple of things.”
England face Austria at Old Trafford in their opening match of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 next week.
