Eintracht boss Dino Toppmöller, Niels Nkounkou, and Kevin Trapp reflect on the 1-1 draw with 1. FC Köln.

Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “We more than deserved the equaliser. This was our best performance [this season] in terms of controlling the game. We were well organised and combined well in attack. The lads attacked for the full 90 minutes and they all put in a great performance, including those who came on. I’m proud of the effort, commitment and how we performed as a group. You could tell from the sidelines that everyone on the pitch wanted to work their socks off for Eintracht Frankfurt.”

Kevin Trapp: “We dominated the first half from back to front – we were just lacking that final touch. We applied pressure in the second half [but] Köln defended well and always managed to get a foot in. We’re pleased to get the point, but we deserved more. We’re going to need a bit of time and patience as a team, but we’ve started the season well nonetheless. We’ll start to gel in the coming weeks.”

Niels Nkounkou: “It was a dream debut for me – I couldn’t have imagined a better start. The goal was important for the team. I’m just pleased to be here now. The draw wasn’t enough for us in this game. We didn’t lose at least, but we definitely could have got more out of the game. The fans were incredible – they definitely played a key role.”
