Speaking in a press conference organised at a youth academy event, FC Barcelona Vice President Rafa Yuste affirmed that the Catalan giants are in touch with PSG attacker Lionel Messi’s entourage about a possible return to the LaLiga outfit.

Messi, 35, is out of contract with Les Parisiens in June and he has yet to make a decision on his next destination. PSG have been in talks about an extension, whilst David Beckham’s MLS franchise, Inter Miami, continue to attempt to make their pitch.

Yuste had the following to say:

“We are in contact with Messi’s entourage. I would like for him to come back and I am sure that a number of fans share my view. I think that life stories should end happily and that is why we have contact with Messi, of course… I think that it is the most natural thing to do. When you love someone, you lose contact, but you want to remain in love. And I think that Leo is also in love with Barça and the city of Barcelona. I think that destiny will make things possible. Let’s see if we can have Leo at Barcelona again.”

At the same time, FC Barcelona boss Xavi was also asked about his Vice President’s comments and he did not wish to comment:

“Now is not the time to talk about that, we have to be focused on what is coming and not think about signings. I would be the happiest, but it is not the moment.”

Lionel Messi is not expected to start in the first Ligue 1 match back from the March international break this weekend when PSG take on Lyon at the Parc des Princes, in a reunion of sorts for Laurent Blanc, who is currently OL manager and has not returned to Paris competitively since he coached the club between 2013-16.
