Wayne Rooney will reportedly decide ‘within the next two weeks’ whether he is going to quit Everton for MLS outfit DC United.
A deal has been agreed in principle for the 32-year-old to leave Goodison Park, however, the BBC report that nothing has been finalised yet.
DC United want Rooney to make his debut when they open their new 20,000-capacity Audi Field stadium against Vancouver Whitecaps on 14 July.
With Everton due back for pre-season training under their new manager Marco Silva, there is a deadline for Rooney to choose where his short-term future lies.
He has one year left on his current Everton deal but DC United officials are ‘hopeful’ the former England skipper will follow Bastian Schweinsteiger and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to MLS.
Rooney scored a club record 253 goals during his 13 seasons at Old Trafford before he returned to Everton in 2017.
