Wayne Rooney is lining up a move to sign Jayden Danns on loan for Plymouth Argyle with the England legend said to be a great admirer of the Liverpool prospect.

That’s according to a new report in Teamtalk, which claims Rooney is ready to pounce should Liverpool decide to loan out the 18-year-old forward this season.

Rooney, 38, is the new manager at Plymouth in his first role since being let go by Birmingham City last term.

He is attempting to assemble a side capable of improving on their 21st-placed finish in the Championship last season, finishing just a single point above the relegation zone.

And Danns could be part of the revolution with the goalscorer on the list for Rooney, who starred for Everton and Manchester United throughout his playing career.

Jayden, son of ex-professional player Neil Danns, broke through under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield last season, featuring in five matches and scoring twice.

Danns bursts onto the scene

He was part of the team which won the Carabao Cup at Wembley against Chelsea in February, going down in the history books as one of ‘Klopp’s Kids’ who stepped up during an injury crisis to guide the Reds through choppy waters.

The homegrown star signed a new long-term contract in March with Klopp reported to be a big fan of the striker.

Danns scored his two goals in a dream FA Cup debut in February, netting twice in a 3–0 win against Southampton to send Liverpool to the quarter-finals.

There were also two appearance in the Premier League during the second half of the season, against Luton and Nottingham Forest, both won by Klopp’s side.

New Reds coach Arne Slot has plenty of attacking options at his disposal and Danns could find a regular spot in the squad hard to come by with everybody fit.

Klopp used mostly Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo as his centre forward options last season while Diogo Jota is also capable of playing through the middle.

Danns has been a regular goalscorer for the Liverpool under-18 and under-21 sides, stepping up to the first team last term.
