Manchester United put in an incredible performance out of nowhere to bring the FA Cup back to Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s men were full of energy and danger in the first half and scored two lightening-quick goals on the counter in ten first-half minutes.

Teenage heroes Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo have represented what is right about United’s performances and it was well deserved that they were the goal-scoring heroes.

The Red Devils had to work their socks off to hold on against Manchester City, but in truth, they did not give up anything like the chances many were expecting they would.

All-time United top goal scorer, Wayne Rooney, claimed that he was delighted for his fellow side and believed they were worth their stunning victory.

Speaking to the BBC he lavished praise on United’s two teenage heroes, but in particular man of the match, Kobbie Mainoo.

The 19-year-old swept in a wonderful counterattack to give the Reds a two-goal cushion to take into full-time.

Speaking on the young man’s efforts he stated, “to come into the middle of the pitch and dominate the way Kobbie Mainoo has done for large portions of this season and to perform the way he did against this Manchester City team.”

The legendary striker then showered United’s other goalscorer, Garnacho, with praise.

“Them two [Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho] have been the standout players for Manchester United this season. For them to be the matchwinners is great, I’m really pleased for them.”

Rooney also opened up on how happy he was for his former side and claimed, “it was such a huge task for Manchester United today to come here and beat the champions. I thought they were absolutely fantastic with the resilience they showed, their work rate and their effort.”

“I think they deserved the victory. I’m absolutely delighted.”

Once the dust has settled on a magnificent day, INEOS will really get to work on what promises to be an incredibly busy summer for the Red Devils, with Erik ten Hag’s future set to dominate the headlines in the coming days, if not hours.
