Aston Villa welcomed Liverpool at Villa Park earlier this evening as they focused on picking up a result at home in the Premier League. The Villans made a sloppy start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the fifth minute when Mohamed Salah scored from close range. Virgil Van Dijk doubled Liverpool’s advantage in the 37th minute as Unai Emery’s went into the half-time interval 2-0 down on the scoreline.

Ollie Watkins pulled a goal back for Aston Villa with a good header in the 59th minute. However, Stefan Bajcetic came off the bench and scored with a composed finish which killed the game off. The contest ended with the Villans suffering a disappointing 3-1 loss in front of their home fans.
