Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis is keen to make the move to Nottingham Forest as he looks to ply his trade in the Premier League once again, according to a report from the Evening Standard.

The Nigerian has been linked with a considerable number of top-tier sides since the start of the summer and this comes as no real surprise following the Hornets’ relegation, with vultures circling for some of their most important assets including Dennis, Ismaila Sarr and Joao Pedro.

The former was previously believed to be the subject of interest from Everton and West Ham, but the Toffees have decided to pursue other targets instead and the Hammers are seemingly doing the same after doing background checks on the forward.

Forest, however, have decided to pursue a move for the man who recorded 10 goals and six assists in the top tier last term, submitting a sizeable £20m bid in an attempt to lure him to the City Ground.

They are hoping to have this deal wrapped up imminently, though it’s currently unclear whether Rob Edwards’ side have decided to accept this offer from the Reds.

One man who is keen for this deal to go through is Dennis, who hasn’t seemed to force through a move yet after appearing in his current side’s opening two league games of the 2022/23 campaign but wants a return to the top flight after thriving at this level last season.

The Verdict:

This is definitely an opportunity Dennis should be looking to take – because there’s a real chance he could become of the first names on the teamsheet under Steve Cooper if he can perform like he did last season.

Also able to play on the wing, he could give Cooper the option to switch formations and keep him in the starting lineup, so there will be plenty of opportunities for him to secure a considerable amount of game time under his belt.

Brennan Johnson and Taiwo Awoniyi may be excellent options to have in the forward department – but Dennis has more English top-tier experience than both combined and that could give him an advantage in his quest to get ahead and stay ahead of the duo in the pecking order.

There’s also a real chance he could contribute the goals needed to keep the East Midlands afloat in the division, though he should be looking to insert a release clause in his contract to create a potentially easier exit route if his time at the City Ground doesn’t work out for the best.

The chance to join an exciting project at Forest is an enticing one though and this is why many Watford supporters wouldn’t feel too let down by the forward if he was to move this move.
