Joao Pedro could be another wanted man from Watford this summer, with plenty of Premier League interest in his services.

However, any interested party might have to pay a rather eye-watering fee to seal a deal for him, as reported by UOL Sport.

They claim that the Hornets are holding out for 30 to 40 million Euros as part of any deal and that is a significant fee for any side to have to shell out this transfer window.

The young player managed three goals during his time in the Premier League with Watford last season and after looking fairly solid in the top flight despite his age, it appears as though there is interest in keeping him in the top division.

Watford would probably be hoping to hold onto the 20-year-old now they are back in the Championship though, with the striker having bagged nine goals last time he was in the second tier.

The side will need goals to get into the promotion places and Pedro could certainly provide them in the Championship.

However, they will also be aware of interest from Newcastle and West Ham in signing him – and that could mean they end up cashing in on the player if they meet their valuation.

Their valuation though is a significant fee – and if anyone did match their asking price, then they would likely have no choice but to sell him on.

Whether West Ham or Newcastle will be willing to stump up such a large amount though remains to be seen.

The Verdict

Joao Pedro has proven that he can bag goals in the Championship and has also been fairly solid in the Premier League too – and he’s clearly caught the eye in the top flight considering this interest in him.

The forward has a better record in the second tier but the fact he is still only 20-years-old and was able to get on the scoresheet in the top division – and look relatively at home in the league despite his youth and the Hornets position in the league – means that he has clearly impressed.

However, Watford holding out for such a large fee might put off any potentially interested suitors. Both Newcastle and West Ham might still make bids of lower amounts for the 20-year-old to try and test Watford’s resolve but it would be surprising if either of the clubs met the asking price they have seemingly set.

That might be exactly what the Hornets want though – as they would no doubt love to hold onto Pedro in the Championship.
