Watford have enquired about Tenerife right-back Shaq Moore, it has been claimed.

As per Spanish publication Marca, the Hornets have the right-back on their ‘agenda’ this summer.

Marca also report that Ligue 1 side Montpellier also hold an interest in the US international, and that the player would view a move to either club as a step forward in his career.

It remains to be seen what sort of transfer fee Tenerife would demand for the 25-year-old.

Who is Shaq Moore?

Shaq Moore is an American full-back who has also played right-wing and right-midfield at times during his career.

The 25-year-old has been in Spain since moving there in 2014, and has been at a number of clubs since that time, including Huracan, Oviedo B, Levante and Reus.

He joined Tenerife in 2019 and has so far made 101 appearances for the club.

Can you remember how much Watford paid for these 22 summer signings?

That included 29 matches last campaign as Moore helped Tenerife challenge for promotion to LaLiga.

An international, too, Moore has 15 United States caps to his name at present.

Watford’s 2022/23 Championship campaign gets underway with a home tie versus Sheffield United on August 1st.

The Verdict

This is certainly an interesting development if true.

At present, Watford have decent options at right-back in Kiko Femenia and Jeremy Ngakia.

The arrival of another player in this position, then, could mean that one of those two are set to depart the club.

It could be the case that Rob Edwards does not see his current options as suiting the 3-5-2 system he deployed at Forest Green and so has asked the club to look for alternative options.

That is more likely to be the case with Jeremy Ngakia than Kiko Femenia, though.

Only time will tell if the Hornets’ reported interest turns into anything concrete.
