The Premier League transfer window closes in fewer than 24 hours, and things are about to get weird.

According to reports in France, Watford have launched an ambitious €60m bid for Paris Saint-Germain winger Gonçalo Guedes.

Guedes is surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes and is reportedly keen to re-join Valencia after spending last season on loan at the Mestalla.

PSG value the 21-year-old at circa €60m and Los Che have so far failed to meet that asking price.

But according to reliable Parisian outlet Culture PSG, Watford are willing to spend their recently received Richarlison money on the Portugal international and must now convince him to move to Vicarage Road.

As things stand, the signs don’t look particularly good for the Hornets. Valencian newspaper SuperDeporte claim the former Benfica man has his heart set on a return to Spain and will resist any overtures from Premier League clubs for his services.

Time is not on Watford’s side and if they can’t convince Guedes to join them before 18:00 CET on Thursday, it seems Valencia will have a clear run at him.

But as we know all too well, anything can happen on transfer deadline day.
