Watford defender Hassane Kamara says manager Roy Hodgson has helped him settle quickly.

Kamara has had no difficulty communicating with Hodgson who counts French as one of the five languages in which he is conversant.

The defender has been impressed with his new boss's language skills.

"He speaks French very well but I try to learn English and when he speaks English I understand," he said. "Sometimes we speak French but I try to speak English because it's important."

While adapting to his new surroundings has been simple, Kamara said that changing his playing style to suit the Premier League has been an "intense" experience.

The speed and the technicality of his opponents has been something that he is still having to get the hang of.

"I try to get to know the game quickly, but in the game you don't have time to rest," he said. "From the first until the 90th minute, you run, run, run, run, run...the results are difficult and the games are hard.

"In all the games, the wingers and the right backs are good players and inside, the game is intense and players are good technically. I try to go higher but it's difficult because we defend a lot, but for me I prefer to attack so when I can I do. But it's better to stay compact and don't concede goals.

"We've worked well to find an idea defensively and offensively. Now we have to believe in [Hodgson] and listen to him and go forward."
