Watford have confirmed the appointment of Tom Cleverley as their new permanent head coach, with the former Hornets midfielder making the step up from his interim position.

Cleverley appeared over 180 times for Watford during his playing career, but announced his retirement 12 months ago after injury. The ex-England international was then made part of the academy set up over the summer of 2023 but has now once more been promoted.

The former Manchester United man took the role on a temporary basis after the sacking of Valérien Ismaël back in March, and has helped them to five draws and a win in the seven games since.

Now, the club have announced his permanent appointment, though with the speed Watford go through managers, he may not want to get too comfy.
