After Watford's drab 2022/23 Championship campaign, the Hornets began to undergo somewhat of a rebuild during the summer.

Indeed, Valerien Ismael arrived as the club's new head coach, and a host of players left the club, including stars such as Joao Pedro and Ismaila Sarr.

As you can see below, the list of exits was quite extensive.

Going the other way, there were six new arrivals, with a mixture of transfers involving a fee, free transfers, and loan deals.

Mileta Rajovic arrived for a reported £X fee, for example, whilst Tom Ince cost the Hornets a reported £X.

Rhys Healey and Jake Livermore were free transfer additions, meanwhile, Jamal Lewis and Giorgi Chakvetadze joined the club on loan for the season.

Rhys Healey attracting Huddersfield Town transfer interest

One of those names, having only just signed in the summer, already looks as though they could be on their way out at Vicarage Road, though.

That player is forward Rhys Healey.

According to The Athletic, Championship strugglers Huddersfield Town are in negotiations with the Hornets over a deal to land the 29-year-old.

It is claimed that a deal worth £2 million is close to being done with the two sides.

Watford can have no complaints with Huddersfield Town deal

Now, if Healey departs for £2 million, Watford can certainly have no complaints with the deal, even if it does leave them very light in terms of strikers.

Healey was signed on a free transfer in the summer, for example, so on the one hand, its a big profit just six months down the line on a player they probably did not think would yield one.

Perhaps even more importantly, though, Healey has hardly been in Watford's plans this season so far.

Although he has had a growing involvement in recent weeks, making his first two starts for the club this month, in total, Healey has made just 13 appearances in all competitions, the vast majority of which have been very short substitute cameos.

Perhaps the only gripe towards the deal from a Watford perspective would be it leaves just Mileta Rajovic and Vakoun Bayo as options up top for the club, meaning another striker addition is needed as soon as possible.

All in all, though, Healey's addition at Vicarage Road, is just one that has not worked out and therefore, for the Hornets to get such a good deal off the back of it, will please them greatly.
