Asked if this performance could be viewed as a message for his detractors, the former Arsenal captain said, “What more could you ask for tonight? I'm super happy, it's a great day for the team, it was important to keep our momentum going.
"When you're welcomed like I was welcomed, it helps, and then when you play with guys like that, it's very easy.
"I have prepared myself for this moment. It's a little revenge in quotes, but I'm a very positive person."
