Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min stars in South Korea’s win vs Cameroon

Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min was the star of the show as South Korea beat Cameroon by a 1-0 scoreline in an international friendly.

Son was on target in another friendly game for the South Koreans earlier this month, when he scored a late free-kick to earn his team a 2-2 draw against Costa Rica. Now, he has shown his prowess in the air with a goal against the Cameroonians.

Left-back Kim Jin-su made an attacking run down the left flank and his cross was saved by goalkeeper Andre Onana but parried right into Son’s path. The former Bayer Leverkusen winger, unmarked, hit a brilliant header that went past Onana.

This concludes the international break for our brilliant 30-year-old superstar, who is arguably playing at the peak of his powers. He had a quiet start to the season.

Son back in form

It took him a while to get going and score his first goal in the campaign but when he did, in the 6-2 win against Leicester City, he scored two of the most beautiful goals one can hope to score. His quality cannot be kept silent for too long.

The versatile forward has taken a lot of the goal-scoring burden away from Harry Kane’s shoulders since the South Korean star got going under the previous Spurs manager. Mauricio Pochettin.

Speaking of Kane, he was also on target for England in a 3-3 draw against the Germans in the UEFA Nations League group game on Monday, September 26. The duo return unharmed from international duty and ready for the north London derby.

Arsenal and Spurs collide at the Emirates in a few days and we can count on Antonio Conte to start Kane and Son together up front again after benching him against the Foxes.
