The Clasico at Montjuic this past Sunday was one to forget for Real Madrid as they let slip a two-goal advantage to lose 4-3 to FC Barcelona.
As Hansi Flick’s side edged closer to securing the La Liga title, the match also produced several notable off-the-ball moments between players – one of which has now come to light.
In footage broadcast by El Día Después on Movistar+, a heated exchange between Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr. and Barcelona veteran Inigo Martinez was captured, highlighting the tension between the two players during the match.
The cameras followed key interactions on the pitch, including a moment when Barcelona players confronted Kylian Mbappe during a VAR check for a possible penalty involving Frenkie de Jong, which was ultimately overturned.
“You were not touched at all,” said Gerard Martin, while Martinez joined in, pressing the French forward to admit that there had been no contact.
“Look at my shirt, it is white, not yellow,” Mbappe replied, laughing. “But it is yellow for you, eh,” responded Martínez, demanding a yellow card for simulation.
Later in the second half, another confrontation occurred between Martinez and Vinicius. The Barcelona defender accused the Brazilian of diving, saying: “You threw yourself.”
Vinicius fired back with a pointed remark: “You wanted the Champions League, but in the end, no. In the end, no,” referencing Barcelona’s elimination in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Inter Milan.
These moments added another layer of intensity to an already high-stakes encounter, as both teams battled not only for league points but for pride and psychological edge.
