That was a very encouraging performance from Celtic last night up at Pittodrie as Brendan Rodgers kept his promise to play squad players and rest many first team starters who were on the bench or alternatively left back in Glasgow…

The team played very well against our Scottish Cup Final opponents who will seemingly have 20,000 coming down the road to Hampden a week of Saturday to take on Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final. Maybe around half that number of Aberdeen fans turned up the dyed in the wool variety and they’ll at least show up at the national stadium.

The fair weather mob might look at last night’s result and decide against making the journey to Glasgow just to get fleeced again. The number of empty seats at Pittodrie was incredible. That big stand to the right of the Celtic support has a top level you don’t see much on while watch on television. Well I can tell you it was mostly empty.

Yet the folks who usually sit there but were nowhere to be seen last night were all offered four tickets for Hampden each.

Listen you can’t blame Aberdeen FC for fighting for their supporters and their own interests when negotiating the SFA. They also got 20,000 tickets only by going the extra mile and offering to underwrite the ticket prices – so the SFA would not be out of pocket.

The SFA were accordingly were less worried about the look empty seats at a Scottish Cup Final creates rather than the cash coming in. What did Celtic do or say about this while negotiating the ticket allocation with the Scottish FA. Something? Maybe nothing, they certainly never told the support about it.

If you were on Celtic’s Home Cup Ticket Scheme and bought a ticket for each round – all at home this year – then you either got an email after the ballots or you never. They like to think of us as customers well as far as customer service is concerned they have plenty to learn.

Many fans reckon that the more successful Celtic are on the park the less interested the club appear to be in ‘customer service’. They may have a point.
