Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard says the opportunity to win the Premier League is enough motivation to quickly put their Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich behind them.

The Gunners were eliminated from the competition after Joshua Kimmich scored a second-half winner to send the German side through 3-2 on aggregate.

But Odegaard has urged his team-mates to quickly put the defeat behind them as they look to close the two-point gap on Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

He said: “All of us are in this together. We win together and we lose together and we all have an important role now to lift each other up.

“We have something really nice to play for so we have to move on and look at that. We want to win something, and that’s been the big goal.

“I think we can’t look too far ahead, we have to take it day by day and game by game. First of all we have to lift each other up and get ready for the next game, then we move on from there.

“It takes a little bit to get going again but what we are playing for in the league is enough motivation for all of us so we just have to stick together, get back up and keep pushing.

“We can still do something very special there and I think that’s enough motivation to keep going, keep working hard and pushing each other.”
