Valencia star Giorgi Mamardashvili has on Sunday stolen the headlines in the Spanish media once more.

This comes owing to the Georgian’s latest stellar exploits between the posts.

Valencia locked horns with Getafe a short time ago, the two sides ultimately sharing the spoils owing to a 1-1 stalemate at the Estadio Coliseum.

After hosts Getafe had levelled things up from the penalty spot late on, though, it appeared as though, in injury-time, the Azulones had done enough to steal all three points.

Step forth, Giorgi Mamardashvili…

After first doing superbly to keep out what would have been an unfortunate own goal, the Liverpool-bound Mamardashvili then returned to his feet, to somehow keep out the rebound, too.

Speaking to the media post-match, Getafe star Luis Milla, for one, could not help but reveal his admiration for Mamardashvili:

“We were throwing our arms up in the air [in celebration]. He has shown what a goalkeeper he is, we know where he has signed [Liverpool] because he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. It was a shame because it was a clear goal-scoring opportunity that would have given us the win.”
