Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has on Sunday evening taken his place front and centre in the headlines across Spain.

Unfortunately for those of a Blancos persuasion, however, as much comes for altogether less than positive reasons.

Real Madrid are of course currently locked in action, having shifted focus back towards matters in La Liga in a meeting with Deportivo Alavés.

The aforementioned Kylian Mbappé, meanwhile, was afforded a starting berth at Mendizorroza, in his customary berth at centre-forward.

But late in the first-half, the summer arrival in Spain was responsible for a moment of madness.

Throwing himself into a tackle in the middle of the park, Mbappé was guilty of a frankly horrendous challenge, which could easily have culminated in a serious injury.

Following a VAR review, it therefore came as little surprise when the Frenchman was shown a straight red card.
