Real Madrid and Barcelona are both on their way back to Spain after finishing their preseason tours in the USA.
Los Blancos got their first triumph against Chelsea, with Brahim Diaz playing a starring role. He scored and gave them a 2-0 lead after a deflected Lucas Vazquez effort. Noni Madueke reduced the gap five minutes before half-time, but that was the end of the scoring.
Meanwhile Barcelona went 2-0 down against AC Milan, through Christian Pulisic and ex-Madrid man Luka Jovic. Yet Robert Lewandowski hit back twice to send the match to penalties. Jules Kounde, Mikayil Faye and Quim Junyent all missed in a 4-3 victory for the Rossoneri.
Real Madrid face Atalanta next Wednesday in the European Supercup in Poland, in their first competitive fixture of the year, before kicking off the Liga campaign against RCD Mallorca on Sunday.
Barcelona have one final friendly against AS Monaco in the Joan Gamper trophy on Monday, as they get ready to face Valencia in their first match at Mestalla.
