Nketiah was with the England u21s over the break, and he scored two goals in two appearances for the youth side. Meanwhile, Mkhitaryan scored twice and assisted once in two games for Armenia.

The duo had no problem keeping their hot streaks going with their clubs, as Nketiah came off the bench to score once and win a penalty against Barnsley.

The striker only played the final 20 minutes, with the score at 0-0 when he came on, making his efforts all the more impressive.

Mkhitaryan also got on the scoresheet, though the game wasn’t quite so tight in his case. Roma were already 2-0 up within 20 minutes when the Armenian netted his debut goal for the club.

It was a clinical finish Arsenal fans probably wish they would’ve seen more in the last season and a half.

It’s great to see both players doing well. If Nketiah can keep up his form for the rest of the season, he’s likely to get the chance to play a similar role for Arsenal next year. At 20 years old, he could have a long future in North London.

Conversely, Mkhitaryan’s time with the Gunners is probably already over, but he can at least drum up some interest for a summer bidding war.
