It’s a Bavarian derby coming to you live from the Augsburg Arena at 19:45 GMT.

It has been a less than satisfactory start to the season for Bundesliga champions Bayern but they have still only lost one domestic match so far this term.

That defeat came away to tonight’s opponents Augsburg, with a Mergim Berisha goal giving the hosts a 1-0 victory back on 17 September.

But a 5-0 win over SC Freiburg at the weekend suggested Bayern are getting back on track, and Julian Nagelsmann will be hoping to avenge last month’s defeat against Augsburg and kick-start a cup run tonight.

Hannover 96 v Borussia Dortmund

Like Bayern, Dortmund’s form has been very up and down this season and it has now been over a month since their last win in any competition.

A 2-0 defeat away to Union Berlin at the weekend put a major dent in their Bundesliga title hopes, meaning the DFB Pokal perhaps takes on added importance for Edin Terzić’s team.

This evening they travel to face second division Hannover 96, who have managed to sell out their 49,200-capacity Niedersachsenstadion, which should make for a cracking atmosphere.

BVB won’t want to be on the end of another cup upset after they were knocked out of the Pokal by St Pauli last season, but this could be a tricky tie and they will have to have their wits about them.

“Everyone at the club is looking forward to the challenge,” said Hannover sporting director Marcus Mann.

“After reaching the quarter-finals last season anything is possible with a full stadium behind us. We definitely intend to sell ourselves as dearly as possible.”
