Wonderful footage stemming from the aftermath of La Liga giants Atlético Madrid’s meeting with Inter Milan has come to the fore late on Wednesday.

This, of course, comes on the back of a special night on the continent for all associated with Atlético.

The Rojiblancos marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming aforementioned Serie A heavyweights Inter Milan to Spain’s capital.

Diego Simeone and co. headed into proceedings aware that an uphill task awaited them, on the back of a 1-0 first leg defeat at the San Siro.

When all was said and done, though, the evening’s hosts were more than up to the task.

Owing to goals on the part of Antoine Griezmann and Memphis Depay, Atléti emerged on the right side of a 2-1 result, before holding their nerve in the ensuing penalty shootout, to march on to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Lautaro Martinez blazing Inter’s final spot-kick over the crossbar gave rise to chaotic celebrations across the Wanda Metropolitano, as the ever-passionate Atlético faithful released 120 minutes’ worth of tension all at once.

And as much was quickly followed by Rojiblancos boss Diego Simeone being roundly serenaded by those in attendance in Madrid.

As the Argentine took a moment to compose himself in the dugout, he was spotted shedding tears of joy, before at last emerging to thank the adoring Atléti fanbase for their tributes:
