Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal have a ‘real chance’ at the Premier League title with just six games to go.

The Gunners sit second in the Premier League table, two points below Manchester City following their 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa last weekend.

Arteta’s men were also dumped out of the Champions League after a 3-2 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich, leaving the Premier League as their only chance of silverware this campaign.

When asked whether there should be perspective on the wider scale of Arsenal’s season, the Spaniard was outspoken on his side’s prospects:

“This has to be there and this is what keeps everybody and ourselves on our toes, that is testing your resilience and ego,” Arteta said.

“If I take a newspaper and show it to my son that it was seven days ago after Brighton and seven days later after Bayern Munich, they will think it was three years ago.

“That is the reality of what it is and we have to live with that. That’s the beauty of it as well. Saturday you can be home and be the happiest man ever and say we’ve got a real chance here, let’s go for it, five game to go. You have to make that happen and that’s my job.

“No words. We need another moment like that, another opportunity to make it because at the end it is difficult to say something.

“You have to have the experience now and overcome that, now we have a handle on the quarter-finals, before that we we weren’t in the competition.”
