Mikel Arteta has vowed that tiredness will not be an issue for his Arsenal side in the title race.

The Gunners will have played four times in 12 days by the end of this week, with Arteta’s side set to face London rivals Chelsea on Tuesday and Tottenham on Sunday.

After his side’s Premier League victory over Wolves on Saturday, the Arsenal boss echoed Man City manager Pep Guardiola’s comments bemoaning the fixture schedule while calling for players to be better protected.

But the Spaniard insists the desire to win the Premier League title will outweigh any tiredness the players are feeling.

“You can manipulate certain things, you can get something out of people that they probably don’t expect and there is a lot around it,” Arteta said when asked how he and his side can deal with tiredness.

“I don’t think we are in a state where we need that. I think you can see that the team really wants it.

“There’s so much at stake. We will try to be as fresh as possible but certainly, I think we can cope with it.”
