It’s been a few days since Kylian Mbappe opted to extend his deal with Paris Saint-Germain and not head to Real Madrid. While many assume that the 23-year-old chose to remain in the French capital for money, Mbappe is quickly making sure that’s not the narrative.

Mbappe spoke with RMC Sport (via Paris Fans), where the PSG star went in-depth on various topics, including why he chose to stay. The forward stated that his story with the French giants isn’t done.

The France international adds that he could have left, but he wouldn’t be exiting as a star player, a club legend who has several records at the capital club.

“I think my story at PSG wasn’t over either. As I said earlier, I would have left as a great player, but not as a star player, emblematic, as I always wanted to be,” Mbappe said.

“I always said that I wanted to make history; from that moment on, you have to make sure to make history, not just tell it. With this new contract, I am giving myself the opportunity to make history, definitely for Paris Saint-Germain.”

If health permits, it will only be a matter of time before Mbappe overtakes Edinson Cavani as PSG’s all-time leading goal scorer. This past season, he overtook second place, passing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and now eyes the Uruguayan.

Furthermore, Mbappe wants to be the star player to bring Paris a UEFA Champions League trophy in the next three years, which has never happened.
