According to Le Parisien, Warren Zaïre-Emery (17) is likely to be rested for PSG’s upcoming Ligue 1 match against Strasbourg on Saturday. The French U21 international picked up an ankle injury in Les Bleuets’ emphatic 9-0 victory against Cyprus in the international break.
The 17-year-old returned to the PSG training ground following the match for France U21s but the Les Bleuets’ training staff remain confident that the injury he sustained is not serious. Zaïre-Emery has been donning the captain’s armband for Les Espoirs since Thierry Henry was appointed as manager. The youngster’s impressive performances have seen Didier Deschamps bring him into contention for a place in a future Les Bleus squad.
France U21s are unbeaten too since the PSG starlet was named captain, with Thierry Henry becoming the first Les Bleuets manager to win his first four games in charge. The midfielder’s knock will be a real blow for Luis Enrique if he is to miss out against Patrick Vieria’s team with Zaïre-Emery becoming a major part of the way the former Spain manager sets up his team since he arrived at the Parc des Princes.
