Milan have submitted their first offer to AS Monaco for France international Youssouf Fofana, but the Ligue 1 side have already received a significantly higher offer from Premier League outfit West Ham United, according to reports on Sunday afternoon.
According to French outlet l’Equipe, West Ham have offered Monaco more than twice as much as Milan have for Fofana.
The opening offer from the Rossoneri was reportedly €17m. The player is now into the final year of his contract with Monaco, and is expected to depart the Stade Louis II by the end of the transfer window.
West Ham, on the other hand, have already matched Monaco’s valuation of €35m, l’Equipe report. In fact, the Hammers’ offer came in at roughly the same time as Milan’s.
Milan have been hoping to negotiate a fee closer to the €20m mark given the 25-year-old’s contract situation, but after reported interest from Atletico Madrid and Manchester United, Monaco decided to up their asking price.
