Reigning Serie A champions Napoli are likely to hand manager Walter Mazzarri one last chance to stay in the job.
The Partenopei were held to a 1-1 draw by Genoa this weekend and their hopes of finishing inside the top four reduced further. They are ninth in the table, nine points away from fourth-placed Atalanta are have struggled to put any wins together under either Mazzarri or Garcia.
There was talk today about Mazzarri’s job being uncertain and La Gazzetta dello Sport (via CN24) have added some details. Mazzarri has been handed an ultimatum and he has to be change things around against Barcelona. If a favourable result doesn’t come Napoli’s way, he would be sacked.
Two names being considered to replace Mazzarri are Marco Giampaolo and Slovakia boss Francesco Calzona. The Slovakia boss would accept taking dual responsibility as manager, as his future at the national team is also uncertain. But as things stand, Mazzarri’s future is yet to be decided.
