Rhian Wilkinson has announced her 25-player squad as Wales Women look to make history and qualify for a major tournament for the first time.
Wales are potentially four games away from reaching the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 finals in Switzerland next summer, starting with a two-leg semi-final play-off against Slovakia in Poprad (Friday 25 October) and the Cardiff City Stadium (Tuesday 29 October).
Angharad James takes over the captaincy role and will be joined on camp by the newly appointed vice-captains Ceri Holland and Hayley Ladd. Centurion Sophie Ingle is the main absentee from the July camp after an ACL injury in pre-season, as Josie Green and Anna Filbey return to the squad.
Wilkinson has also selected three uncapped forwards in the squad; Mared Griffiths, Tianna Teisar and Charlotte Lee, who received her first senior call-up after being involved in the U-19 squad last season. Hannah Cain returns to the squad with the FAW working alongside Leicester City on the final stages of her recovery from ACL injury.
Wales head into the play-offs having not lost a game in 2024. During the qualifying campaign so far, Wilkinson’s side have won four games and drawn two, scoring eighteen goals in the process.
Should Wales progress to the play-off final, they will play either Georgia or the Republic of Ireland in a two-leg showdown on Friday 29 November and Tuesday 3 December to determine who qualifies for the EURO finals.
Tickets for the play-off semi-final match against Slovakia at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday 29 October (KO 7:15pm) are available to purchase on the FAW ticketing website, priced at £10 for adults and £5 for children, with discounts available for Red Wall members.
