Everton played hosts to Aston Villa at Goodison Park earlier this evening hoping to pick up all three points at home. The Toffees dominated more of the ball in the first half, but failed to breakdown the Villan defence. Both teams went into the half-time break with nothing to split them.

The West Midlands outfit finally managed to make the decisive breakthrough when Ezri Konsa found the back of the net in the 72nd minute. The Merseysiders managed to dig deep and come up with a response in the 87th minute via Theo Walcott’s goal. The match ended with both sides sharing the spoils after playing out a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

Let’s take a look at how each Everton player fared during the contest versus the Villans.

GK: Jordan Pickford – 6/10

The English keeper was bombarded with a lot of crosses, but he did enough to restrict the Villans from scoring more than once.

RB: Seamus Coleman – 6/10

The Toffees skipper got himself into some promising areas in the opposition half and struggled to deliver a decisive pass in the final third.

CB: Michael Keane – 6/10

He marshalled his own penalty area quite well, but would be disappointed for conceding a poor goal in the second 45 minutes.

CB: Mason Holgate – 5/10

The English defender made a bright start to the game, but had to go off with an unfortunate injury.

LB: Lucas Digne – 6.5/10

The French left-back was defensively solid and provided some much-needed width for the home team out on the left flank. He was a constant menace for the Villans, but picked up a yellow card for a cynical foul in the second half.

RM: Alex Iwobi – 4.5/10

The ex-Arsenal attacker struggled to get into the game and failed to create anything of note going forward.

CM: Tom Davies – 6/10

The English midfielder distributed the ball well from midfield, but struggled to create too many openings in the attacking third.

CM: Andre Gomes – 6.5/10

The Portuguese midfielder was sloppy at times when in possession of the ball, but deserves credit for setting up Walcott’s equaliser in the dying embers of the game.

LM: Bernard – 5.5/10

The Brazilian displayed a few moments of promise in the first 45, but ran out of gas after the half-time break.

ST: Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 5/10

The English striker fought tooth and nail against the Villan defence without creating too much in front of goal.

ST: Richarlison – 6/10

The Brazilian forward was a threat on the break, but struggled to give a good account of himself which led to his substitution in the final quarter of the match.

Substitutes:

CB: Jarrad Branthwaite – 7/10

The 18-year-old came off the bench to produce a solid display alongside Keane and did well to keep the Villa attackers frustrated during his time on the field.

RM: Theo Walcott – 8/10

The English speedster came off the bench to score the all-important equaliser.

LM: Anthony Gordon – 6/10

The youngster provided some fresh energy in the opposition half.

ST: Moise Kean – 6/10

He was Ancelotti’s last throw of the dice.

CM: Gylfi Sigurdsson – 5/10

The Icelandic international got some space to launch a shot from long range in injury-time, but his effort was wide off the mark.
